Disney Reportedly in Talks to Purchase 21st Century Fox

Iger won’t stop until he owns everything in Universal theme-parks!

According to a new article published by CNBC, 21st Century Fox is in talks to sell most parts of the company to The Walt Disney Company. Any potential deal would almost certainly exclude many Fox assets such as the Fox broadcast network, Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Sports, or Fox affiliates. If a deal were to be reached, it would include 20th Century Fox Studio. This would make sense as they hold the rights to many Marvel and Lucasfilm releases (both Disney owned). These rights include X-Men as well as the original Star Wars film and Avatar. Several years ago, Disney licenced Avatar so they could build Pandora: The World of Avatar at Walt Disney World Resort which is now open. If a deal were reached, Disney would also control Fox’s TV production as well as international assets.

The two companies have reportedly been talking for weeks, although no result has been reached yet. Both Disney and Fox have declined to comment.

It’s worth noting that the two studios both recently joined forces with three other studios’ to launch Movies Anywhere.
