Rumor: Inside Out Attraction to Replace Journey Into Imagination with Figment

While an attraction replacement is likely, Figment isn’t going anywhere

The Epcot Rumors are starting to heat up as it’s now possible that Journey Into Imagination with Figment will be getting replaced with a new Inside Out themed attraction. Before you panic, it’s reported that Figment isn’t going anywhere! In fact, it’s possible he may be getting his own new show in the Imagination Pavilion theater, next to the current attraction.

Let’s break this down. Journey into Imagination is in need of some love. It’s starting to show it’s age with the ride system and just overall experience. It has received some upgrades in the past few years with a new projection system, and some new effects added, but nothing major. Either a new attraction needs to take it’s place, or a complete overhaul is necessary to keep guests returning to this iconic attraction.

But why Inside Out?

Inside Out is the perfect replacement. It talks about the imagination and the different strands of the brain and how it works. This film would also be great as Disney could reopen the second floor of the pavilion, currently being used as a Disney Vacation Club lounge area. The post-show area could also be gutted and re-themed with new interactive technology to keep kids engaged and educate them. Let’s not forget that education has always been at the core of Epcot since it opened.

If true, Figment will be getting his own 3D show in the pavilion. Where Captain EO used to be. Although little is known about what this new film will be, it could feature Figment in the same story that the attraction currently conveys, just told on screen.
