Kyodo News is reporting that the Oriental Land Company (OLC), the operator of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea, is planning on spending $2.7 billion to expand the existing theme parks sources close to the subject said on Wednesday. One source said that the company plans to expand the existing parks by more than 30% by the year 2025.

This expansion would come after the ongoing projects already announced last year such as the Fantasyland expansion, Big Hero 6 attraction, and more. The company is also trying to acquire additional land for these projects.

OLC has reportedly entered negotiations with The Walt Disney Company who licenses out rights to various parts of the company.

This would be the companies largest investment since spending 340 billion yen in 2001 on the opening of Tokyo Disney Sea. The new areas are expected to carry a Japanese theme.
